i just got a programmable shunt and i don't really know what they are or how they work...could someone help me?

My daughter's shunt is programmable. If the doctors feel that it is draining too slowly, they can increase the drainage. Also, if it draining too quickly, they can decrease the pace.

that helps. does it mean that ill never need surgery again?

oh ok. but i mean if its like a pressure problem...ill never need surgery again?

deleted_user
You shouldn't. If it would clog or break of course you would need a revision.

deleted_user
well, that makes sense. but if its not pressure, it'll need surgery?
