Hodgkin's Lymphoma Support Group
Hodgkin's lymphoma, formerly known as Hodgkin's disease, is a type of lymphoma characterized by the presence of Reed-Sternberg cells. Unlike other lymphomas, whose incidence increases with age, Hodgkin's lymphoma occurs more frequently in two separate age groups, the first being young adulthood (age 15-35), the second being in those over 50 years old.

I am not taking Bleomicine because my lungs were weak while I was in the hospital. After I came out I took the pulminary test again and my results were much better but I still scored a bit low on one part. I am not sure if I should take it or not because the AVD is working on its own. My doctors want me to... but it causes permanent lung scarring! And thats pretty scary.
Has anyone only taken the AVD and not B and was cured? Or does anyone know anything about this?
And if I dont take it and its not all gone I'll have to have radiation and i KNOW thats worse...
Any help on this matter would be great and much appreciated!
Thanks!

A friend sent this to me..As far as I can see, grief will never truly end.It may become softer overtime, more gentleand some days will feel sharp. But grief will last as long as Love does - ForeverIt's simply the way the absence of your loved onemanifests in your heart. Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
there is risk with it,yes. but i think there is more risk with not taking it, than with the actual chance of it causing permanent damage.
i don't recall having a pulminary test at all ( in fact im sure i never had one ), but i had a lot of breathlesness and a very fast hear beat, but i'm still having the full ABVD.
although dr's arn't always the wisest, i think if they say you should have it, maybe its worth considering.
sorry i can't be of more help.
take care.

That's really scary that yr heart started beating faster and has breathlessness.... Are you sure that's okay? I know it is a short term side effect but I didn't know you can still take it if that happens.
I kind of think I should start taking it too. My doctor said I could now that I passed the pulmonary test... but I just hope it doesn't cause any permanent damage. All i know is its better any day than radiation.
Good luck with everything and thank you again =)

I do have lung issues now, but I was first diagnosed in 1978, relasped in 1981 and again in 1990. I am 17 years post Bone Marrow Transplant. I am still here, alive and kicking, and very happy. My best to you. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask

I'm 19 years in remission, but I definitely sense that my lungs have taken a beating, esp when I'm hiking. I'm glad they stopped the bleo when they did.
So, I guess the answer to your question is , yes, I stopped getting bleo, and so far, so good.
I hope you're feeling ok today.
