I don't know about your brother's details, but I have had friends with pneumonia and a handful of T-cells pull through and eventually go back to school and work full time.
When I was first diagnosed the docs said 1-3 years, then I heard 5, then 10 and lately the average life expectancy I read was 24 years with the virus.

Hello, Fo r you I hope that you can be there to help your brother through the tough time he has ahead of himself. But ,2-3 years? I am surprised a Dr would tell him that. Even the most sever caese of AIDS have the potential to rebound and live a long life. I was diagonsed with 23 t cells and all kind of stuff and four years later I am still around. I will say that it is a diifcult recovery and the family and friends help so much. Your brother needs all the support he can get so that he can get his emotions in the right place for the difficult physical fight that he is going to have. But there is hope and it is really good hope if he follows all the Drs directions.If you find that the Dr is not of the same attitude then find another Dr. It took me three Dr's and almost two years to get my boidy back to health. if you dont speak with ME, speak with someone, communicating is as important for the family as it is for any patient.

do not suffer in isolation while people reach out.there is no need for that anymore,not these days.

youve done the right thing by coming to a place like this. these are good people here,and believe me ive seen LOTS of hiv groups in all these years, this is one of three that i would actually vouch for over so many years.

`i found out out about 6 mo. ago my wonderful son was hiv postive. it was the scarest thing i have even been in my life . his father died from cancer in1981, leaving me with 4 kids to raise. i was 34, my husband had just turned 40. i had 3 boys 7,9,12, and a daughter 4. i thought that was hard, but myson is my heart. he has never been one to party, , and only had one parter, so it didnt make sense to me how this could happen. my heart goes out to you, but dont give up . ask people on this site and they will give you vitamins, and foods that are good for him. have faith,.my heart goes out to you. i will pray for him. dont give uo, keep going with support from family and friends i think he can live for many years.god bless
