Hi every one. I am good today for the most part except for some fatigue. I live in central nys in a very rural area. We have three agencies that handle aids and still there are problems. One agency can handle those who have medicaid, I don't get services from them. Another agency provides me with case mgmt and medical case mgmt and they come here to see me, thank goodness cause my depression prevents me from leaving the house sometimes. Sometimes they have events too but they are too far to get to. The third agency provides us with transportation and sometimes we have these events. We are going to a pre thanksgiving meal this Saturday. My friend is coming with me since my husband will be at work. I can bring up to five guests. Still the local hospital isn't taking any new people which leaves us locals having to go to albany or binghamton for direct medical services which is way over an hour each way. So How's by you?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Have you tried the closest city and asked for the infectious disease dept, if they have one? 1 800 342 AIDS they are open 24/7 and can tell you your nearest Community Services agency.
Please let us know what happens. I am sure you're not the only one on board that's floundering around out there.
What about where they tested you? Or your local public health nursing agency they can usually refer people to the local agency. Good Luck and please keep posting, you need something to hold onto menatime.
As for local charities I did go to T.H.T for help and counsellign but onone occasion when I went along I felt the guy was being a little bit to sexual and the 2nd time some young lady fomr there rung up and didnt seem bothered in t he slightest it was to matter fo fact for her.
The best service I have ever got was from the KOBLER clinic in London UK and my hat goes off to them for making me feel human and helping with all my problems, But in the end no matter how much good or bad care you may get form these health places it all depends on how you feel mentally and how you cope outside cos if you are down that is a large factor in making you feel and get even worse.
still, the range of health care options in any big city far outweigh those of rural areas, (like nw ohio) and for that reason, every single long term healthy surivor of hiv, has agreed,
move to the city while you can.
everyone says, its not that easy. easier said than done. we find in so many cases down the road however, that its easier done, than not done.
eventually, if faced with life and death, why would anyone want to be in a place they already know has inadequate resources. if we were talking about water, there would be no question, ya have to have access, period.
where ARE the hiv services?
big cities.
that reality alone determined many things for me.
today, viral load zero, tcel count in the 600's, i see my doctor relatively regularly for my usual dose of inhumane mistreatment, sloppy manners, and arrogance.i havent taken highly toxic immune supressing, aids causing, hiv meds for a long time.
what am i doing right?
