Hernia Support Group
There are several kinds of hernias, but the all happen when pressure pushes an organ (often the intestine) through a weak spot in a muscle face or wall. Treatment for hernias can be no treatment, to medicines to surgery. Modern surgical methods to treat hernias are much improved over older techniques and recovery times are much shorter.

Hi
I was just wondering if people could share their syptoms with me, I have only recently been diagnosed with Hiatus hernia, I have sufferd with stomach problems for 6 years though.
Whatever researh i have done alsways talks about heartburn etc which altough is a problem for me is not the main problem
*I feel neaseous most of the time
*I feel like I have been punched in the stomach or like im carrying a big rock around in my stomach (hard to explain)
*Also have weird taste in my mouth,
*I also find it hard to get mr breath a lot
.
Just wondered what other people symptoms were other than heartburn, and any ideas on how to help them
Would really appriciate some feedback

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You don't reaaly have to worry that much about a hiatial hernia, at least that is what my doc said. It is if you are getting acid reflux and medication won't help. For me I got all the side effects of the drugs they put me on ie..nexium, zantac etc. so my acid reflux was eating up my throat. I had alot of scar tissue built and this can lead to barrets syndrom, which is another problem. Anyway, like Sara, I decided to have to surgery and am doing alot better now, 6 days later. I'm 63, Sara is only in her 20's so she bounced back alot quicker than me. But really the day of the surgery was the only bad day and then it's small meals. If you can control your acid refflux by meds I would say do this. As for the hernia, don't left heavy things and take off some weight if you need too. These are 2 of the things that seem to bring this condition on. For me I have always lifted things heavier than 20 pounds and pushed around furniture, oh, another thing that should be avoided if you can is constipation.....just my thoughts....hope your feeling better and that I have been of some help.
