Is this common with treatment? It started a few days ago as dry mouth and I went and bought Biotene, but it was so much worse last night and this morning. I used to get thrush all the time until I found a great asthma inhaler that didn't cause it. Lol!

I know it is definately thrush because I rinsed my mouth with apple cider vinegar/water this morning. (It breaks it up). It's nasty, but a sure way to tell if you have it!

I have some Nystatin swish and swallow on hand from a previous infection in September, does anyone know if it's safe to use on treatment?

Yes, it's very common on tx. My asthma inhaler causes thrush! I'm scared to use it! What is the name of urs? I'll see if my doc can prescribe it!
A few members on here have had it and had it treated. They will let u know if it's safe!!! Good luck w/it...

It is XOPENEX HFA 45 MCG. I tried taking Albuterol and it gave m really bad Thrush, tremor, increased heart rate etc. This one is perfect. The only bad part is, my doctor had to work her ass off for my insurance to cover it. A lot of insurance companied won't and then it ends up costing $60 a month. She got it approved and now I make sure I pick it up every month and stockpile it. LOL!

TY, pharmacy just told me I have to get a pre auth on my lidoderm back patches for pain, will as doc for this then he can fight for 2 things!!!!

Wait til this evening, u will get help if what u r taking is ok. I know it is of utmost importance to take it before it spreads into ur lungs and other areas. Can u call ur GI?

I called my primary and shes not in today so I called my GI's office and left a message with her secretary. She just sucks to get a hold of personally. Her secretary is usually her (voice). She will probably call me back tomorrow. I'm actually going to take the bus over to my pharmacy now. First time out alone since I started treatment. I feel like I need the exercise.

Have you tried sugarless gum? Helps keep saliva going which improves intra oral ph.

I was prescribed Nystatin after my liver transplant 8 months ago, and it helped a lot but didn't totally get rid of it. So 5 months ago, my transplant doctor prescribed lozenges called Clotrimazole 10MG . They cleared it up right away. I still use them from time to time, because my tongue is sore at times. I also have dry mouth at night, which is why I'm up right now! I don't know if the dry mouth and sore tongue are related to the thrush I used to have or not, but I'm using them again right now, just a couple a day.

Thanks for all your replies. My primary who I always ask questions to first called me in some Nystatin Swish & Swallow for 5 days with a refill. Then... my GI's secretary called and she called one in too. Lol! The pharmacy is probably thinking, WTF?
