Since my treatment failed back in May, I have done a lot of research on the other treatment options. I am a genotype 3. Pharmasett Inc has a this drug in phase 2b clinical trials. There is an arm of the trials which tests genotype 2 and 3 non responders. They have had good results with people in these groups. Protease inhibitors are not effective for these people. I looked the authors of the abstract article and sent out 5 emails. I got 3 responses. The clinical trial which sounds like it will be the most promising for me to get on is at Duke University. The clinical trials RN told me clinical trials are in the works for fall of 2010 but nothing definite yet. At least I have some hope of getting on a clinical trial rather than doing nothing and waiting for end stage liver disease.
