Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I had my youngest daughter 16 years ago. Myself,my husband and her are infected with the virus. My three older children are not. We believe I was infected when I gave birth 27 years ago to my twins. I suppose she was infected while I carried her. The dr's say most babies born to hep c moms fight off the disease on their own. Have them check when they are older. Ever need to talk let me know.
Congrates on your babies, best gives in the world
According to the CDC: "There is no evidence that breast-feeding spreads HCV. HCV-positive mothers should consider abstaining from breast-feeding if their nipples are cracked or bleeding."
