Today's election day in our state. While I was waiting to vote I started to wonder how I could find out which candidates would be most supportive of my cause--HepC awareness and research? How would I find out which candidates would truly commit to this cause? Who would be most effective?
Is anyone here politically savvy? Does anyone know of anyone in an elected office who has HepC, or has a family member who does? Come to think of it, I think it's odd that no candidate ever mentions HepC.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this. I know research grants are made by the government, and the government is run by elected officials. How would I identify a Senator or Representative that would give time and energy to HepC awareness and research?

Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Here's another question: Why do the same public figures who champion AIDS awareness and research run away from HepC? I know, the stereotype, the stereotype.
Thanks for the direction, joan 40 and tattman. Now I have some ideas.
1) Check w/DS admin about their policy on discussing politics.
2) Find out more about stem cell research and clarify my thinking on the subject.
Just to whine in public--I have to remember that I'm scheduled for a cardiac cath next Wednesday (ick) and I shouldn't start a major project until I'm cleared by the docs. It gives me something productive to think about, though.
