I've seen some posting about ibruproprin....ask you Dr. what he/she recommends
One thing I discovered last week while mending from car wreck and dental work is that there is a pain med (my primary always gave me a once a yr script for hydrocodon for migraines w/tylenol mix...however my dentist gave me script that has same pain relief but is part Hydro and part ibuprofen...didn't even know that was an option...for everyday minor headaches, etc I take ibupofen and feel it is a great option...just my opinion....I tend to avoid any type tylenol - why not - other meds work as well but don't affect liver!
Hope this helps-I was just amazed that there were med options w/ibuprofen....
Did try ibuprofen after this post started....felt like dookey all weekend and found it didn't work as well as the Tylenol. So, this weekend got wild and used six reg strength a day....Ya'll may have to do an intervention
BTW...I think I know how Tatt got the name Big Green Daddy.....Blahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
In my experience, Ibuprofen works better on muscle and joint aches but in too large of doses can cause kidney damage. Again, no more than four in a day and not for long term.
On occasion I have use naproxen (Aleve) but it can cause stomach disorders if use too often or in too large of doses.
Needless to say, I don't use anything unless I absolutely need to. I don't suffer from chronic pain, though during my recent illness I took more pain killers in the last five weeks than I have in two years prior. Since I have been home, I have alternated between all three OTC pain killers but the main reason is to keep my fevers in check. When I get tired and run down I tend to run a low grade fever between 99.0 and 100.0
The problem with most RX pain killers is that more often than not they include ibuprofen or acetaminophen so it pays to find out how much each one holds. I was given vicoden in the hospital that also contained 500 mg of acetaminophen. Fortunately, I only took one capsule three times daily.
Anyhow, that is my two cents worth on OTC pain killers.
