Does anyone know if you get over the virus, what happens to the damaged area of the liver? I would think that I would want it cut away so new can grow! Can the liver really reproduce itself? This disease does turn into cirrosis after all, that is why I would want it cut out...maybe new would grow...that is if I slay this dragon in the first place. Hey, I just realized that for once, I'm thinking positive about this!! I've been on tx for almost 3 months. My liver hurts really bad. It must still be enlarged/inflamed. Now, I only have to go to the Dr. once every three months!! I hated getting blood drawn every week. I HATE NEEDLES!!! My tx went from three days of all out nuclear hell, to all week of mediocre misery. I'm kind of embarrassed to leave the house. I look so sick 5'7" and 116 lbs. It's making me look older than my already 48 years. Enough babbling, anyone know bout cutting out the old, and new growing??

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Before jumping the gun, let's give tx a chance to clear the virus and the liver a chance to heal. If you cut your finger, you would not just chop it off without giving it a chance to heal. You clean it and treat it, cover it with a bandage and in time, you will see that the cut has mended with maybe a bit of a scar left behind.
That's how I see the liver. You get rid of the virus and then the liver heals itself up a bit, but not likely 100%.
Still, it's better than nothing, so don't worry about chopping out parts of your liver because remember, the virus is still in your blood.
Anyways, there has been much talk about the liver's ability to repair and rejuvenate. Often, people do tx and their stage and grade improve. I think you want to get cracking on that before reaching cirrhosis as I don't know much about what your liver can still do at that point.
The other guys here will have more to say about that.
