Hello everyone!!!
I wanted to discuss some issues my girlfriend is having that has worried me because of all the stuff on the web that I read. I am going to discuss really quick, but in depth, her issues that some might not want to read so stop reading now. She would kill me if she knew I was posting this! Again my gf has had HEP C since 1993 and never showed symptoms (of course) like so many people. She did not have a liver biopsy so we are in the dark about the condition of her liver. (angers me) She is type 2 which is all I know and she remembers from the doctor.
The last two weeks she has been really bloated in her stomach, her whole stomach from top to bottom. She is very constipated and even went as far as using some help (includes water and a bottle; catch my drift). Her last bowel was black according to her and don't ask why she told me but I'm glad she did. Everytime she eats no matter what it is or how little amount it is, she feels like she is stuffing herself. She is hearing alot of noises in her stomach and I can see how bloated her stomach is. I begged her to go to the doctor but she assured me it was because she has been eating so unhealthy the past month.
Again these issues just started about 2 weeks ago and she has not started treatment yet.
I am scared because of all the things I have read about bloating, black bowels and liver cirrhosis. She said she would give it another week (started eating much healthier) and if it doesn't help she will see the doctor.
If anyone out there can give some advice about whether its something serious or probably a cause of bad eating habits that is catching up to her, I would really appreciate it. Sorry guys I had to ask!!!!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I will say than "poor eating habits" sounds like a flimsy reason to be having such problems. It used to be that you could pick up a phone a call her nurse...quietly ratting her out. I don't know if that is possible anymore with Hippa.
We all deal with things differently, especially when we are afraid, but I'll tell you that your GF reminds me of my DH. We've come a long way....I'm not a medical person but this sounds like something that needs to be addressed before beginning tx. It helps to be as prepared as possible...
Your girl friend should not ignore these symptoms due she thinks it her diet. If she has a poor diet she may want to check for anemia if here doctor hasnt ordered that already. I found the bloating was mostly from the hep c. The various veins bleeding and poor diet definitely caused the anemia. I had stopped drinking so pretty sure it is due the hep c I had to have various veins banded. I am still waiting to see if I need a biopsy or if the blood testing where enough to find out what treatment the doctor will recommend. I do know I have some liver damage due the enzyme level. I have had so much going on at once I tried to narrow my issues down to what you are concerned about with her.
SHE SHOULD CONTACT HER DOCTOR PRONTO. THE GOOD THING IS SHE IS TYPE 2 WHICH HAS BETTER ODDS IN TREATMENT TO RECOVER AND POSSIBLY LESS TIME GOING THROUGH TX. It sounds like she has a good support system in you and she may just need and extra boost from someone who cares because she is scared what she may find out.

black stools in my experience could be due to lack of nourishment, a large amount of iron in the system or some sort of internal bleed. dont wanna frighten you, but she is best to get checked out. i get bloated, but i dont get the black stools any more. i did tho when i couldnt eat and i couldnt eat cos whatever little morsel i ate made me full up. BUT i am now on lactulose 20mg am and 20mg pm and normacol twice daily too and all the time my bowels are kept empty i can eat. it also helps with the ol' brain fog.
i'm not suggesting your gf needs to go on same meds, just sharing my experience. hope it helps. in saying that, i still think your gf needs to get checked out by the doc.
good luck and be sure to come back and let us know how she gets on.
My personal thoughts are that you need to get her to doc asap-fear of unknown is sometimes worse than knowledge-it might be nothing and stress could be eliminated early..but if it is something she needs to be aware and ready to fight.
Bless you friend for being here for her!!
Prayers for both!!! xoxo
