Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
I would say that you are being selfish. If you have children, I would think that you would want to get better so that you can be around to support your children.
You say that you don't want to take meds because you need to work.
Well, if you get too sick because you chose not to take the meds, then you won't be able to work at all.
There is no guarantee that you won't be able to work. I worked just fine all through the year.
What type are you, what is your viral load, have you had a biopsy. It's tough to have someone comment on what you should do if we don't know that most important info.
If you don't know that info, then you should not be just blindly choosing not to do the meds.
The bottom line is that if you have children, you should be concerned about your health so that you can become well enough to support them.
I'd suggest going ahead and trying it. If you get too sick and can't work. Well, that's entirely up to you.
There are more promising things coming down the pike that are less hurtful.
If you know what shape your liver is in and your genotype...you could go from there. Get a biopsy.
You need all the support you can get too. You didn't say if you have a partner that can help you thru this. Just consider all the factors and then make up your mind.
Let me know. I do care.

I have looked into the treamennts available to Hep-C sufferers and I was not impressed at all! I also have a living budget that is stretched to the max so that I can't afford the 20% the insurance won't pay. Most people I spoke to that have tried meds,(interferon....etc.) have had either bad reactions or no noticeable improvment. I'm not suggesting you don't consult a doctor or rule out meds all together, but it seems to me that the medical community is sadly lacking in treatment research and development for such a dangerous and potentialy leathal disease!
Hang in there darlin'!!
I just kinda woke up and i'm not thinkinh that clearly yet, but i'll be sure to write you again.
Love and Health,
Ken
