Hepatitis C Support Group
Hepatitis C is a blood-borne viral disease which can cause liver inflammation, fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver cancer. The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is spread by blood-to-blood contact with an infected person's blood. Many people with HCV infection have no symptoms and are unaware of the need to seek treatment. Hepatitis C infects an estimated 150-200 million people worldwide.
bu I think HepC counter acts this so the interferon is helping your liver to rest and do some healing maybe this is why.
Normally, they want you to drop a 2 log off your starting VL by the 12week mark. I have heard of some drs wanting to continue tx if there is a response but just not as large because I think some people maybe respond slower than others. It makes sense to me.
It is just like more drs are thinking it's good to continue tx for a few 36 weeks after the person finally tests undetected.
So I can understand continuing if there is some sort of response to tx, but for people who are not responding at all or their VL goes up, I don't see any point in continuing.
What about asking her and get her explanation and some specifics?
My ole'man was on for 6 months the first two times but we never asked questions so we can't tell you why, sorry. He's on his 3rd round now w/a doctor we trust, who will take him off after 12 weeks if he doesn't respond. He already told us. Sorry I can't answer your question--my point, I guess, is that I think you're on the right path asking it. Don't stop. Proactive is where it's at in this fight. Good luck.
