A year ago when i got my yearly test done my iron levels were high so my doc was concerned and i went back and my iron went back to normal. This year at my yearly (about 2 weeks ago) my iron levels were once again high so she sent me to a blood doctor and he took some blood and told me that he is almost postive that i have hemochromatiosis. THey havevn't got my hemochromatiosis test back but he called today and said my Ferritin levels were fine. Im sooo confused w/ this disease. My doctor said sometimes it's not hereditery and that i could just have it ( well i think that was what he was saying ...he is indian and hard for me to understand him). Does anyone know what the ferritin levels mean...since mine were normal does that mean i dont have hemochromatosis??? what could be causing my high iron ?? How dangerious is it to have high iron ??
