My MIL is deceased but we got along great. I didn't call her anything bad behind her back. Same goes for H, he and mom get along great and he always called her mom. He does call her ferocious Lois and he'll say it to her but in a joking way.

H and I were both lucky that we got along well with each other's parents. Now for my SIL..................

That is really nice to hear Leather, normally it's not that nice of a relationship with either one or the other.

Both my mom and Matt and Matt's mom and me get along great! Thankfully. My MIL is a really sweet lady and my mom though a bit harder in character is sweet too and they get along great. If there was any tension at all it would be between my Dad and Matt :p

When my MIL was Alive and Kickin .........I always called her Mom....Behind her back I coludn't call her anything unless she had her heading aid in................LMAO !!!!!

My MIL is a wonderful woman. We get along pretty well - just spent yesterday skiing together, just the 2 of us. When I talk about her behind her back, it's pretty much the same stuff I tease her about to her face lol.

My mom... doesn't bother to pretend she likes my husband. Despite the fact that he's always civil with her. Behind her back, he calls her bitter, a bitch, asks why we bother with her...

Luckily, we live about twenty minutes from my in-laws, and across the country from my mother.

My Ex called my Mother by her name. I called his mother by her name to her face and referred to her and YOUR mother.

No wifey, therefore no mother in law, but my mom is an ecclectic mix of sweetheart and overbearing obsessive type, which may or may not rub others the right way. My one sister's part-time husband (they're decided whether to divorce or stay together) finds my mom a bit intense, my other sister's husband affectionately calls her "mama K (K being the first letter of our last name)" and finds her wonderful!

I get along better with elder younger sister's mother-in-law (she's very sweet, theatrical and funny, a '60s free spirit) than younger younger sister's mother-in-law (a bit persnicketty and controlling). But I never call them names. Not my style. I was raised to "respect your elders"!

First one.My partner calls my mother by her name and nothing else. Sometimes he will jokingly refer to her as "mum", but he will never run her down, because he has no call to do so- she's always been courteous and lovely to him.

His mum I call a total and utter bitch, because she is. I dislike her and hope she never feels comfortable enough to stay in my home for longer than a half an hour.
