I need to lose a few pounds before my wedding. I've gained a few over the last year and I want to make sure I look good in my wedding photos (I don't want to look like a heifer! LOL), but I'm finding that eating healthier is so much harder (not to mention, more expensive) than eating something that tastes so much better. How do you trick your brain/body into eating healthier? It's always been a struggle for me.
I used to run 3-5 miles a day. Now, I'm lucky if I can run 1 mile a week. I just need to get off this laziness kick. I need some sort of motivation. You would think that my wedding would be motivation enough, but I guess not..
Any advice would be appreciated!

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Don't think of it as a diet, but as a lifestyle change. Make one change at a time and stick with it for at least a week or two before adding another change. That will make it MUCH easier for you.
Keep working at it and before you know it you will be slim and trim in your wedding gown. You know what eating healthy does not have to taste bad or seem like a form of punishment. There are lots of tasty healthy foods to choose from. I will have to come back and share some tasty healthy recipes with the group. I have a ton of them.
I am pretty busy right now so I don't know when I will get around to posting some of those recipes but I will as soon as I can. Even if I only post 1 or 2 at a time. Try to incorporate more exercise and activity into your daily routine by doing errands and things you need to do anyway just walk or ride your bike to do your errands instead of driving.
Even if you have to drive to a location like a shopping mall or center that has many of the places there that you can do your errands drive there and then park farther away and walk up and down doing what you need to do and leaving the car behind. Being that you are a future bride I know there are a lot of errands and things you need to do before the wedding.
Take advantage of that and knock as many of them off your to do list by walking. Drink plenty of water. Take a hair and nail vitamin supplement like Biotin everyday along with a good women's multivitamin along with eating a healthy balanced diet and you will look great for your big day! It is true that you should have more of a motivation to get in shape than your wedding day but hey its a start.
Keep finding things to motivate you to stay in shape after the wedding. I have one for you. Did you know that by staying in shape and eating healthy that it improves your sex life and the way you feel? That is always some thing to look forward to for a newly wedd couple.
Oh I am also a wonderful wedding and event planner and a creative person and a culinary artist, florist, baker and decorator, writer and I am fantastic with money and helping people budget. Anyway I am mentioning this to you because I wouldn't mind helping you by sharing ideas and tips with you for your fitness goals and your wedding.
I started to post journals teaching people things on a variety of subjects here on ds. They are available for anyone on ds to read. You just gave me another subject idea that I can teach about in my journals on ds. I have already posted one on fitness. But I can start posting a series of educational journals on weddings.
Feel free to send me messages and ask me questions. I love to help people! Keep an eye out for my journal entries. I find that by posting different educational journals I am able to teach on more subjects and to a larger audience of people than by posting a bunch of individual postings in different support groups. And this way I can reach out to people all over ds and not just the members of the support groups I belong to.
Of course I will always comment and post things in my support groups to. And I could start some groups here on ds myself but I think it is less work and less stressful for me to teach through my journals than running my own group. And I belong to so many great groups on ds that already support important causes that I would really just like to remain a member of them and to add whatever I can to daily strength. I wish you all the best.
