Why is this so popular? my gp and endo have been pushing me for years to have this done but i'm freaked out isn't that like microwaving your thyriod? my t4 has gone down to 59 and i guess i'm feeling a bit better so why should i get it done????

I had my RAI done about 5 years ago and I am very glad that I did. I was getting extremely physically ill from being hyperthyroid. I was assured by my doctors that the procedure has been done for a long time and there should be no fertility side effects, etc. It has been a struggle since becoming hypo, to keep my levels steady. Even so, I would gladly be hypo anyday over hyper. It was ruining my life. And also the drugs that you have to be on to control thyroid levels when you are hypo can cause serious damage to other organs like your liver. I think for me that RAI was a good long term solution. Still not EASY, but I'm happy that I did it.

i agree with Kerry, I am also happy I got the RAI treatment. All the meds for "hyper" are bad for your liver. I had to get off of them for that same reason. Remember to always get your ALT (liver) level checks every time you adjust your meds or periodically have it done. You said they have been pushing you for years, how many years? Are you still hyper?

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
