I am 24 weeks pregnant and was diagnosed with graves when I was 10 weeks along. Besides being diagnosed with graves, I have had a very healthy pregnancy. In fact, before being diagnosed I had many symptoms that didn't really bother me, except for the shortness of breath that quickly subsided since starting 300 mg of PTU a day in late September. I have a few questions... I read that I should not be ingesting iodine. Is that true? My prenatals contain iodine so I'd like to know if I should switch to a brand that doesn't contain any. Also, is it a good idea to eat soy to lower my thyroid levels? I've read it can have positive effects on graves. Is that true? I've also seen some people suggest not eating wheat or dairy. I have celiac disease so I don't eat any wheat, oats, barley, or rye... But I do eat dairy. Does it interfere with the effectiveness of PTU or increase your FT3 and FT4?
