Has anyone had problems with muscle twitching? I remember having a strange pulsating/tingling feeling in my face around my cheeks and nose right before I was diagnosed with graves and it seems to have come back again. Sounds strange I know, but it is driving me crazy especially when I'm falling asleep at night. I have also had random muscle twitching (a normal twitch where you see the muscle move and happens randomly, unlike the feeling in my face which is constant)- the normal twitching is mostly in my arms and legs and has happened on and off since I started on methimazole in June, but has been pretty consistent for the last month. It is not as severe as the scary leg twitching I had when I was in thyroid storm which is a symptom of being very hyperthyroid. Last I checked 4 weeks ago, my thyroid levels are normal. When I asked the doctor about it over the summer he said it was not related and it was stress.I don't feel stressed and never had this before the Graves. So, is anyone else is experiencing either the face twitching or muscle twitching?

Try and rest as much as you can. Reduce your stress levels as low as possible. Try relaxation, walking etc. Good luck.

Singersue, I had twitching also. It was in the eyelid area. I would also have tremors at night. I didn't even know that I had them until my husband told me. I notice that when I am feeling stressed they seem to get worse. I try to keep relaxed and avoid anything/anyone that I know upsets me. Since I started taking the methimazole, the twitching isn't as often. I also take prenatal vitamins, evening primrose oil, omega-3 fatty oil, and calcium. I avoid anything that has nutra-sweet, and haven't had any since I found out I have Graves. I read on another web site that some believe that it causes hyperthyroid/Graves symptoms. My Dr. agreed that tremors are caused by the hyperthyroid/graves.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I did a stress reduction program this fall which taught meditation etc. which was helpful. The methimazole has definitely helped although I think now I've figured out that the twitching is worse whenever I have to decrease the methimazole. I'll let you know if I figure anything else out and in the meantime I'll try to relax :)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
