Hi! I'm new here and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I've been on Tapazole 5mg once daily for 4 weeks. After two weeks of being on it I felt a lot better. Now I feel like the medicine isn't as effective as my symptoms seem to be increasing again. Has this happened to anyone else? Also does anyone else see an increase in their hyperthyroid symptoms during the time of their period? Thanks!

Yes, I have horrible symptoms when I start my period. My whole body aches, I feel very wired, my heart is racing, nervious, anxiety and when it all settles I am exhuasted! My OB/GYN put me on birthcontrol. I havent started it yet. I am now taking primrose oil. They say it helps with PMS and hair. So how do you feel when you are on your period??

Thanks for your quick reply. It feels like the hyper symptoms I deal with normally increase when my period is due-- Especially the racing heart, higher than usual bp, frequent bathroom trips, and that anxiety that creeps up for no good reason when I'm totally relaxed. I'm so sick of my thryoid. LOL

Maybe you need a slightly higher dose of meds. I know for me when my tsh was low-normal (between .4-.8 or so) I would still have symptoms--they would come and go as my tsh fluctuated--even though it was "normal". Now that my tsh is around a 2.0, I have no symptoms. I guess what I'm saying is that even if you're considered "normal" you might feel more comfortable at a higher tsh level. What are your levels at and how often do you get them checked?

Hi! Thank you for your response too. I've felt "off" since I gave birth 2 years ago. Told that my sudden emergence of blood pressure, palpitations, quick weight loss, and nervousness was from giving birth. HA HA After 2 years I know now what it is. My TSH, since they started measuring it, has measured low normal. When my symptoms got more severe in December I was told it was .8 and it steadily dropped every month after that. I had symptoms of hyperthyroidism but was put on a beta blocker as my endo watched it. Suddenly around Halloween my body went crazy. My TSH dropped in a week from .6 to .3 then it fell even more (not sure how far)and I was put on meds, the tissue around my eyes started to swell and in a month a large nodule became noticible. 4 weeks ago I started methimazole. After a couple of weeks I felt better but now I'm feeling bad again. I'll call my doctor in the morning to see if it's ok to increase the dose of the methimazole from 5mg to a greater dose. I don't want to feel like this for Christmas. My husband is away till after the new year and it's just me with a very active little boy who doesn't understand why Mommy doesnt feel like chasing him around the house to play anymore.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
