I am so frustrated. I hired a lawyer to help me with gaining legal custody of my granddaughter. He filed an emergency petition with the court, but the paralegal at his office told me that the parents have 60 days to answer. I asked if that meant I would not get a court date for 60 days? In 60 days there could be lots of trouble! My husband and I have had her for about 1 1/2 months already, with constant threats like "I coming to get my daughter", or "I need $$$$$." I have called my lawyer several times with problems. My daughter has called the police on me saying I won't give her daughter to her when she is the one who left her with me! The next day she brought her back. For the sake of my angel, this has got to stop. She needs to be safe and secure.
Does anyone have any advice? How long does it take to get the courts to give you a date?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
After that, they set up a court date & serve the parents with papers, so that they have time to get a lawyer & you can either come to terms, or they can challenge the order. We came to terms that we could all agree on (b/c the parents knew they didn't stand a chance of custody), and we've had temp custody for almost a year now. We go back to court Dec 5th, and will most likely be granted permanent custody.
