Gout is a form of arthritis caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints. It is an intensely painful disease, which in most cases affects only one joint (monoarthritis), most commonly the big toe. The classic picture is of excruciating and sudden pain, swelling, redness, warmness and stiffness in the joint. Low-grade fever may also be present.

I'm like...what is left to eat right?
SHe wants me to eat a slice a bread a week, there are so many restrictions. Has anyone heard of it this?

I avoided all wheat products for 3 months and it did help. I havent had a gout attack since June. I have also limited red meat and even chicken to only once a week. Drink lots of water. I havent tried mangosteen juice but will try it next time.

Hi, I'm still new to the gout diet needs, but I think the reason might be because yeast has a high amount of purines and it's found in bread and a lot of other foods.

Jewlz, I have recently started noticing the yeast note. Like oyu I am down to eating next to nothing that isnt on a sald bar and some of that I am avoiding! I switched from white bread to wheat a few monoths ago. Since going veggie about 4-6 mos ago I have eaten more toast, fresh pizza dough, etc. and switched to Quinoa to limit the wheat intake. I GUESS I can cut out bread but where does it stop? Is Wheat yeast different/worse than white bread? I understand diet to be such a small part of the problem... I just dont know what to listen to anymore...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
