Gout is a form of arthritis caused by the accumulation of uric acid crystals in joints. It is an intensely painful disease, which in most cases affects only one joint (monoarthritis), most commonly the big toe. The classic picture is of excruciating and sudden pain, swelling, redness, warmness and stiffness in the joint. Low-grade fever may also be present.

How bad is gout on the kidney?
My dh lost a kidney in 2000 because of a cronic problem with the uretur collapsing and ruining the kidney.
Now he's having cronic gout problems in ALL of his joints, and has for several months before finally giving in and going to the dr.
Could gout be a warning for more severe problems? The dr said a couple of weeks for test results to come back... I'm in a panic.

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
