I went on Allopurinol in October and was having a heck of a time throughout the winter. Right after going on it I received several SERIOUS attacks...in both feet at times. It was extremely painful and hard to get through a work day. This stopped over time and I stayed on the Allopurinol. I still received attacks here and there but not as serious. It was more like soreness in the padding tissue of my feet, etc. Well being completely fed up I stopped taking allopurinol over a month ago now and got back in the gym. I am completely confused at the results. Since stopping the drug I have had NO pain and NO attacks and NO soreness thus far. My eating habits need to change and so does my alcohol consumption but regarding gout and allopurinol I just have no idea anymore. I plan on seeing my doctor soon but I'm staying away from the stuff since I believe it was really screwing me up this past winter. I'm convinced it's not the rubber-stamp solution for gout patients. Sure it may control uric acid levels. But depending on your chemical make-up it may just hurt you by making you miserable at the same time.
