I only became aware of the danger of taking ppi's for longer than 8 wks when I was in my 10th month of Nexium...I had heard many yrs ago that they caused cancer, but had forgotten it through the years. I lost all faith in my dr. I cancelled my next appt and took over my treatment with pepcid ac and mylanta...with the same results..I wonder if other people here are afraid to take ppi's after the initial 8 wks? Wasn't it my dr's responsibility to inform me of the risks he was exposing me to? He also missed out on my discovery of lactose intolerance. So much for my gastroenterologist...am shopping around!!
