GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.
My asthma is kinda terrible right now aswell im using my inhaler like 6 times a day and im worried cuz i have 9 tokes left on it and can't get my repeat prescription till tuesday!
The vocal therapist gave me a GERD "help" list, and two of the things on it really helped my throat/voice.
First, she told me to take a drink of water whenever I wanted to clear my throat. In addition, she said a person should drink half an ounce of water for each pound that they weigh. (I weigh 120 lbs, so I need to drink 60 oz.)
Second, she told me to use a saline nasal spray twice a day. That helps a lot, too.
Lately, I have been really focused on work and haven't been drinking my 60 oz. of water per day, and sometimes I forget the nasal spray. The throat-clearing is getting worse and my throat is sore again.
Don't know if these will work for you, but they work for me.
I know if I start those two things again, it will help IMMENSELY. It does not take care of the problem completely, but it takes care of 90% of the throat-clearing and gets my voice back to normal.
