I am new to this forum. I am feeling very distressed at the moment. For the past 3 months I have been spitting up lots of acid/phlem. It started just for about half an hour in the morning, then went to half the day, now I am getting it most of the day/night. It raises in my throat when I am in bed. I wake and find myself swallowing constantly. I have elevated the head of the bed to try to help myself. Even when I don't eat it starts. Yesterday I had a right day it went on all the night before and all day yesterday. I was even getting out of breath with it. My doctor cannot see any urgency in me seeing a specialist, although a week ago I was admitted to the E.R with chest pain. The doctor there said he thought that a flap in my throat is not closing properly, as I have a hiatus hernia. Prior to this for about a year, I have had swallowing problems. The specialist put me onto Losac which acts like Zantac and also a muscle relaxant to help my swallowing. Now my symptoms are praticulary unbearable, I cannot stop spitting and its driving me nuts. Has anyone had this symptom, or can someone please please offer me some advice.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Reflux is serious and it can cause asthma or other respiratory problems. You should see a gastrologist and a pulminogist (I'm not sure of the spellings).
I had to have surgery for the reflux and my issues became better. I still take meds for reflux and asthma but it has been years since I was in the hospital.
Good luck.
Aloe Vera Ingested twice a day, probiotics (activia might be enough), Beware of baddies!! (candida, bacterias).
Quit sugar, use honey. Man, those muscle relaxers are tough on the gut. Do you drink chlorinated water?
I recently wore a monitor, it measured how much acid was staying in my esophagus. The Dr. just got the report and he said a lot of acid was staying in my esophagus .
I am losing my voice this time.
See if your Dr. will do a ph study, You will wear a monitor for 24 hours and you will have to sleep on a normal bed. This was the hardest thing for me, I woke up choking.
The head of my bed has been up since this all started years ago. I take 40 mg. of Prilosec everyday, 2 tums before I go to bed. My Dr. told me not to use any mouthwash.
I have to have surgery again, I have to decide which surgery I want.
If you have any questions feel free to send me a message.
I will be praying for you.
