GERD & Heartburn Support Group
Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is defined as chronic symptoms or mucosal damage produced by the abnormal reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. This is commonly due to transient or permanent changes in the barrier between the esophagus and the stomach. If you are afflicted with GERD or heartburn, join the group and find support.

My husband was having Acid reflux. I read that taking digestive enzymes can help with this. So he took them and improved very well. But a year later the problem came back. It was becoming a bad problem at night where he would wake up choking fluid that came up from his throat. Not too long after that he was driving and ran off the road. Doesn't recall it happening and there was a doctor that diagnosed him as having sleep apnea. He followed up with testing to confirm the problem. It seems that when you don't breath well you starve the body oxygen and that causes the stomach to become over active. This can also lead to your heart stopping in your sleep. So if you have Acid reflux, please investigate if you might also suffer from sleep apnea.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
