Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I haven't been around lately - school holidays and after seeing a naturopath I started to feel like my old self again. This all came crashing down last week. I did eat too many cashews and that upset me but now it just does not seem to going away. I have pain in my stomach both left and right side - the left side I can understand but on the right too???
I have been wheat and dairy free for a month too.
I feel like I am falling in a heap again and dread this pain escalating - I thought I left all that behind in 2010.
So can I consider the right sided pain all part of gastritis or is something else going on? I googled gall bladder but I am sure if something was going to happen there they would have picked it up on the scan last year (October).

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Sorry to hear this is happening to you. I get pain on the right side now and then and for me its been my liver. It works extra hard with the stomach inflamed and I know when I get pain there I simply increase my green vegies especially the leafy ones like spinach and silverbeet and it usually settles it down. Your naturopath might know more.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hang in there and remember, even a small step backwards is still progress. Hopefully your naturopath will be able to figure this out- though honestly, even when healed, people post-gastritis can still react poorly to some foods for months or even years. Try to take it one step at a time and be thankful that you did have some good days in between. You will get there again.
It upsets because I was feeling so good - so good it was decided to have 6wks between appts with the naturopath. I guess I will be heading out to get some manuka honey which I stopped because everything seemed to be good! Started drinking aloe vera juice again.
Paranoia has crept in with what if they missed something on the scan last year... don't you just love late night pain!??
Was thinking 2010 was behind me and 2011 was going to be different. My diet is better even as I have cut wheat and dairy so I don't understand why this is happening.
I've had good periods and then wham... where you are. I think something upsets the system and stirs up the inflammation and then time is the best healer. I agree with raven. A set back is still a step forward. I find with each set back I recover quicker.
Hang in there Lia. It will settle soon.

Are you as wet and soggy up north as we are in Melbourne?

I can eat salads that I make at home with olive oil as the dressing.
Good luck.

This whole way of eating is so restrictive. My husband made me some rice paper rolls and vegetable sushi two weeks ago - it tasted awesome just to have something I didn't have to worry about.
Thanks for all your replies XXX
