Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

I had been reading about the GBS a lot on difft., web sites and it seems that some people have passed away after a few months after the surgery. I'm not trying to scare any one but It kinda got to me, I t talking about unskilled surgeons , pouches that had small holes and leaked and all so small nick cuts on the intestines and fluid linking out and poising the body and surgeons not knowing it happened and people dying from that . I know it may be rare
but its very scary reading, I have all so been reading the good side of the surgery and how it saves lives, I m going to still get my surgery any way because I'm over weight with high blood and on 3 types of meds, for it and have sleep abnea and I hate my C-PAP machine as well as I m bipolar , So I look at it in a positive way, If I don't get the surgery I could end up getting other health problems and end the end die from that or get the surgery and take care of myself and live or that could kill me, either way you cant win or lose in life but chances are your are most likely to do well. , sorry about the spelling. Im just letting every one know the in's and out's in all reality. just please every one do what your Dr. orders or tell you very closely and do every thing that you are suppose to do to keep healthy, By the way I had read a lot of good stories about the surgery ,here is one good site and im sure theres many more,

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
People MUST check into their surgeon's track record. They need to know how well this person treats their patients, how many patients have not survived their surgeries, and get some references to check. Find out how well the Dr. has reacted when a patient has had to call for excessive vomiting or other uncomfortable occurances.
You know how you want to be treated, make sure it happens!!
Even for Post-ops! If you find you aren't being treated properly, look around! Find the other Dr.'s around your area. Most of them will try to help in some way IF they feel you are being treated poorly.
God Bless!
Janelle
you are so right.
