I have some info on the Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for you:
1) This is one of the newest Bariatric surgeries and is also referred to as a vertical gastrectomy
2) This operation represents the restrictive portion of the BPD-DS (biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch) without the intestinal bypass
3) Here was the reported weight loss in a series of 216 patients undergoing vertical gastrectomy (sleeve gastrectomy) recently published: 59% initial excess body weight at one year, compared with 47% for gastric band patients and 75% for gastric bypass patients.
4) Most believe that this procedure may provide weight loss as good or better than that obtained with the adjustable gastric band, without the need to implant a medical device and frequent adjusting.
