Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
What info has your surgeon or nutrition specialist given you so far? If you feel you need more info, don't hesitate to give them a call.
At the very beginning of my program (even before pre-op testing) I received a 40+ page book telling me everything I ever wanted to know, up to what my experienced would be like the day of the surgery (first you'll go to admitting, then they'll take you to....).
Each one of us could tell you what our program is like - and each one seems a bit different. For example, people are talking about protein shakes a lot and my program doesn't seem to include them, though I did buy a few to try just in case.
Some people are told to stay away from milk while others drink some every day.
Good luck and let us know how you're doing.
She even has one specifically for what to buy. Amelia just had her surgery this month so all of her journals are recent!
About the info they give you at the hospital, you'll probly be on painkillers when they try to fill you in so you won't remember much when you sober up. But we're always here! someone is always close. I'm within hearing distance of my computer during daylight hours, and it alerts me whenever there is a new reply here. As soon as my hands get freed up from what I'm doing I'll be back!
You aren't alone, and in real life we are real people! we can use Yahoo messenger also! Don't panic, remember to breathe...
God Bless!
