This is my first time on a chat/blog or even public site but that shows I’m a little desperate, lol. I had a lap-band removed after nine years of complete failure. Never could tolerate a fill. Only kept it because I wouldn’t over eat but several months ago it started keeping me from eating much at all. Because of diabetes I decided to take out the lap band and do gastric bypass. Two days after bypass I started vomiting constantly and got aspiration pneumonia. I was in the hospital on clear liquids for 2 weeks. Went home and in less than 24 hours, aspirated in my sleep and was readmitted to ICU for 3 days then back to a regular room for a total of 3.5 weeks. I have been so weak it is still difficult for me to climb stairs but that is getting better. I still have what I consider more than average vomiting, i.e., anything more than 3-4 tablespoons comes back up. So several days ago my surgeon did an EGD and UGI and found some gastritis and put me on a liquid med which, best I can tell, may be helping. So, like so many others on here, I feel very blue and wondering if I will ever be normal again? I don’t want my old normal but I would love to have some semblance of a meal more than a few tablespoons. I am drinking plenty of water and getting protein. I’m just starting to feel regretful and would love to eat more than 2 or 3 bites having dinner with my family. Right now I can’t hardly eat with them because it makes me nauseous.
Any words of encouragement would be appreciated!
Hello, I am having surgery in a couple of days and I have seriously struggled with my pre-op diet. I am worried I will not be able to do this. I only have 3 days left before surgery. I just need to share about it, I am sure I am not the only one who struggles with the pre-op diet. I plan on doing clear liquids the next 3 days maybe a few protein shakes.
Hi, I haven't posted in a long while but I just passed my one-year anniversary (my new birthday) and I wanted to write an update to encourage anybody who is about to undertake this surgery, or who has recently taken the plunge and is in need. I had the gastric sleeve a year ago and to date I have lost 184 pounds. It wasn't easy but it has been sooooo worth it! I just had a pedicure today, and I...
