Hi!
I was reading a post by my friend NAL. It seems as if our medical providers have a goal for us. My doc's goal is for my BMI to be a 24. I am 5 feet tall.... so that would be 129 pounds. Is that my goal? I dont know. I guess I didnt think about it.... that was her goal.
Here is my take on it. I started out weighing 220. Size 2X top, 18 bottoms (which were tight) It doesnt sound like too much, but it is on a 5 foot frame. My BMI was 43. In less than 3 months, I have lost 39 pounds, and my BMI is 35.3. Not too shabby.
My goal? Size 10. Medium or large top, depending on the type. Medium scrubs, that fit well and dont pull at my stomach. Run a mile without passing out. Find an exercise that I like and stick with it.
Just thinking out loud. I would love to hear what goals you all have.... : )

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
My goals are many and varied- they range from feeling comfortable in the passenger seat of my car, to being able to jog a mile- I try not to pick a number for weight loss- but I want to get under 200 lbs. I haven't been 180 lbs. since sixth grade-- I really am not sure exactly what my doc's goal is for me.. if he gave me one I tuned it out in place of my own personal goals.. *chuckle*
1) I want to be able to walk without pain.
2) I want to have energy.
3) I want to quit feeling like I'm watching life from the sidelines.
4) I want to shop in regular stores for my clothes and have an actual selection of what to wear.
5) I want to quit worrying if I'm going to fit into the booth at the restaurant or need a seatbelt extension on the airplane.
6) I want to have control over food rather than it having control over me.
Hugs~Vicki
To be able to see in the mirror the body size that I was....in my 20's
To be able to shop for normal size clothing.
To not have the risk of having a heart attack and die in my 40's as my grandfather and uncle did.
To continue to live each day as the wonderful gift that it is.
To be living long enough to be in my grandchildrens lives.
1: To sleep a full night w/o waking up in pain.
2: To reach a healthy weight (whatever feels healthy on my 5'4" frame at that given time).
3: To sit on the floor with my son and play a game or read a book AND be able to get up again without help.
4: To clean my own house (right now I have a home health aide coming in to help me).
5: To take an entire shower standing (I have to use a shower chair right now).
6: To comfortably bend over to tie my shoes.
7: To be able to chase my son and push him on the swing.
8: To participate in life instead of sitting on the outside looking in.
9: To live my life and not have food rule it.
10: To fit into a booth, seat or anywhere I want to fit into, comfortably.
This is only to name a few of the many goals I have for myself. This was such a good thread to start!

to be able to not have high blood presure to be able to shop for regular size clothes to have the energy for life.
I would like to be at a healthy bmi but I am not there yet. I have gone from 276 to 164 I am in a size 10/12 but my weight lost has stopped and I think now the rest of the weight will have to come off the old fashion way exercise. Good luck everyone it is so worth it.
