Hello,
My name is Jane and i had a gastric bypass done on saturday! So far i have only had about 4 glasses of apple juice a day as i am unsure on what else i can drink. My doctor said i could have ice cream but i am unsure if i have to wait till it melts till i eat it.
If anyone has any suggestions on what they drank on there liquid diet after the op i would really love to hear.
And also, what about smoking? Other than it being bad for your health is it still a big no no because of the surgery?
Thanks you!!!

Congrats !! on your surgery. Follow your packet from your dr or nutritionist. Liquids first week, 2nd week puree soups and full liquids, 3 & 4 soft foods and 5 your should be able to go onto thin slice deli meats and start introducing other foods slowly. At this point you will be doing trail and error just like feeding a new baby. Chew and Chew and don't drink with your meals. Take all your vitamins and drink your water and get your protein in all in one day. Keep the faith you have taken on a journey of a life time. Take Care Estelle

Happyjaney I would not eat ice cream because of the sugar content I am suprised your surgeon said it is ok, but all surgeons are different. I had sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, broths, and some type of protein shake that is very low in sugar and carbs, also water, and caffeine free hot tea, I could drink milk. I was told I could have no more that 2-3 grams of sugar a meal. I had to do this 2 weeks post op, then 2 weeks of pureed food, I did soft diet for four weeks. Then it was trial and error diet from then on. If I was you I would speak with a dieticiam preferably one that works with gastric bypass or your surgeon. Did you get a guide to follow after your surgery. My dieticiam gave me one it tells me dos and donts, what to eat what not to eat. vitamins to take and how much. It is packed full of info.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
