Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Low blood sugar is common for long term post-ops. But by the time you get there it is no big deal. It will just be a matter of keeping something in your purse for "just in case"
Those that suffer from the malabsorption problems are the ones who don't get blood work done regularly and adjust accordingly!
They are also the ones who want to change the rules and use supplements we know won't work for us, like using the calcium carbonate instead of the calcium citrate!

If you aren't more then a year out, you cannot post here tho. this is a place for grads to discuss the things they need to. Us Newbies have hundreds of places to post! We are welcome to lurk and learn by reading tho!
Enjoy!
God Bless!

I was severely anemic about a year out but just changed my diet (supplements were giving me horrible constipation). But I eat very healthy (lots of fish, fresh veggies and a balance of carbs like brown rice/risotto/wheat pasta) and a little sugar treats here and there.
Make sure you get some exercise in - you don't need to work out 3 hours a day 5 days a week but you need to keep active. I do a lot of different things casue I get bored very easily.
And as always, I will remind anyone having this surgery - if you do not address the mental issues why you eat and why you needed this surgery in the first place, you might as well not waste your time, money and energy. Obesity and food addiction is not only a physical issue - it is a mental issue so if you only take care of 1/2 of it, you only have 1/2 a chance of being successful. I went through a 90 day inpatient treatment for food addiction/binging two years after surgery.).
Just being on this site and asking the questions is a great way to start! I wish you all the success in the world!
xoxo
