when I had my scope done, they sent me home with two scripts, saying that I had acid reflux. I guess one script was to control the acid and the other was to start healing the damage.
This is probably what your scripts were for too, but don't take my word for it. LOL
You might call your doc tomorrow or Friday and ask him what he meant, so you know for sure.

Hmmmm. What kinds of meds are they? You might have h. pylori. It's a bacteria that lives in the stomach. Usually they prescribe an acid reducer and an antibiotic. It's important to take all the meds so you can get rid of it. I've had h.pylori and got rid of it. No problem....just take your meds and call your doc for results clarification. Too bad he didn't say what the problem was in the message.

I would guess they tested for h. pyhlori while they were in there. It's an ulcer causing bacteria. You take a bunch of meds to rid your system of it. Nothing to be frightened about. The reason they want you to "take them all" is because if you don't complete the entire prescrition the bacteria may not get completely killed off and therefore the remaining bacteria could develop a resistance to the medication so the next time they regrow they are immune to that antibiotic. This is true for any antibiotic prescription...which is why it is important to complete any course of antibiotics and not take them for unnecessary viral causes (which don't respond to antibiotics anyway). Hope this helps.
I would call him back though for a better explanation. A message over the phone assumes you know what he knows...and clearly you deserve a better explanation than that.

If it is Heliopathic Pylori, I had that. I was put on three different anti-biotics for 14 days. You will have diarrhea like CRAZY!!! That is the worst part of it. It is a pre-cancerous virus of the stomach lining. The antibiotics will do the trick and get rid of it. You will go back after two weeks for a test where you blow into a bag and the lab will analize it to make sure the virus is gone. I was fortunate enough to have it gone the first time. I have to be on acid inhibitors for the rest of my life. I was frightened when I found out I had it. But, if you really think about it...thank GOD they found it before it turned into ulcers or cancer!! I have not had heartburn ever since I had my surgery! Most people who have reflux never have it again either! It's all part of making you your healthiest before surgery. It's a good thing!!

I had to take meds after mine too. I had 3 ulcers. Hope you find out what is going on. Try not to worry though.

Hi there, don't be to alarmed. I had my scope and was informed I had H-Pylori, it sounded pretty bad to me. I asked the Dr. if it is common and he told me it was. I was prescribed some antibiotics and another Rx for stomach, it was a 10 day regimen, I had to take 3 antibiotcs 4 times a day and the stomach pill twice a day. Like you, I was not used to taking so many pills. But, also like you I took them and everything turned out fine. I had my GBS surgery on Dec. 9, 2008. I am now 3 wks PO and feeling pretty good. Just the yearning to eat something familiar. Anyway, hang in there, you will be fine.

For me, it meant my Dr. found a hernia and ulcers.

I wanted to thank everyone who supported me- Doctor and I talked and it is H.Pylori and I need the medication to correct this condition- he explained it to me and again it was found and I can now thank god I had the test done and found it this early- so again he told me it will not effect me being ready for surgery-so I see the pulmanlogist friday and hopefully get clerance and then only one more doctor and things will be ready to go to the insurance company for approavl-----thanks again
