I was taken off the pill before my surgery. My surgeon suggested the patch or Depo-prevara shots a month after surgery. I tried the patch which resulted in the WORST pain in my legs and nausea. I really don't want to go the Depo route, I HATE needles (stems from when I had spinal menengitis as a kid). I was contemplating the IUD - it's more long term. The Depo you have to get shots every so often and with my aversion to needles and busy schedule I don't see it happening. I've been off BC for a LONG time but want to go back on for help with cramping/long periods. I called my surgeon and they didn't get back to me - have any of you used IUD as BC? Thanks!
