Hi, I am new to the group. I have joined a couple other sites before, but find a lack of connection. So, far what I can see... this looks like a supportive site and with does of reality. Looking forward to surgery... very little anxiety about surgery or the fact that I wont have food as comfort anymore. I am nervous about the idea of not being able to drink and only being able to sip for a long time.

I dont have a surgery date set yet. I have my last nutrition class in two weeks, and from there everything goes to the insurance company. But I just found out two days ago, I have to get the sleep study done. Which was not on my original paperwork from my surgeon. Hoping I can have that done quickly.

Welcome! Yes the sleep study is one of several hoops that you will have to jump through. Just show up and go with it. The sipping only lasted for the first 6 months for me and now I can drink almost normal. No chugging or glugging, but normal swallows now. Glad you joined us!

Welcome! I worried about the not being able to drink while I ate thing, too. Seriously, it is so worth it...not as bad as I'd feared. Being a healthy, normal size is completely worth all I gave up.

Looking forward to supporting you on your journey!

Welcome to the group. Don't worry about the drinking. By two-three months, you'll be feeling pretty normal--just no gulping or chugging. Initially, I used a kitchen timer and sipped 1 - 2 ounces every 15 minutes, and that kept my fluid up. Thirst wasn't a problem.

Welcome!! Well with the whole sipping you water thing I will say it was hard for the first couple of months for me to get all my water in. I did find that even though my tongue and head did not like room temperature to slightly cool water my pouch LOVES it. I can drink a lot more water when it is NOT ice cold and am now having no problem getting all my water in.

    I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

    I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
