Gallstones (choleliths) are crystalline bodies formed within the body by accretion or concretion of normal or abnormal bile components. Risk factors for pigment stones include cirrhosis, biliary tract infections, and hereditary blood cell disorders, such as sickle cell anemia. Stones of mixed origin also occur.

I think I'm having a problem with my gallbladder, but I'm not sure. I've been having intense pain in my back and in my chest for a while now. The pain usually starts as a kind of stabbing, pinching feeling just under my right shoulder blade, and a sharp, stabbing pain at the same place in front of my body. The other day I started having really bad chest pains all across my chest, but especially at the place where my abdomen meets my ribs. It hurts almost every day, but it gets a lot worse at night. It's so bad sometimes, it wakes me up and I can't get back to sleep. And I've noticed that there are certain foods, when I try to eat them, it's like my body won't let me. I'll start to eat them, but then something happens and I know that I just can't eat any more. My doctor thinks that since my back hurts, I must have scoliosis, but I really don't think this pain has anything to do with my back. It's not a muscle pain. It feels like something inside me is sick. Does this sound like gall bladder pains to anybody else? Did any of you have these symptoms??

My pain was in the middle of my abs. I didnt have any chest pain. I would be worried about that... Have they done any tests?

My non-functioning gall bladder was discovered because of chest pains. After six months of testing and re-testing they finally checked the gall bladder and removed it soon after....no more chest pains.....

HOWEVER...make sure they spend a lot of time on checking the chest pains and not assume there is nothing wrong there....

My first gallbladder attack I was alone with my 2-month old and 4-year old sons and I thought I was dying. The pain was like like a knife clear through my chest. What happens is once a stone blocks your bile duct, it backs up and causes severe pain. Once the stone moves, you can actually feel the bile start flowing again and you get instant relief. It's really creepy. I found laying in the bathtub with really hot water worked, but the pain didn't really subside until I got a prescription for DARVOCET. It was the only medicine period that took away the pain, because it's purpose is to numb your whole body. It sounds like you haven't had a full attack yet, you'll know when you do. If you experience these symptoms, go straight to emergency, tell them to check your gallbladder. They can tell at any time whether or not you have stones and if one is blocking your duct. If it is, they will remove your gallbladder instantly. I absolutely experienced the strange food issue also, and, at least for me it was gallbladder related. It feels like acid reflux, but only happens when you try to eat certain foods. Try to stay away from grease, extreme sugar, and other than that keep track. I had an issue with eggs. You will find that some things you digest just fine while others give you chest pain or fill you with acid. These problems can all be gallbladder related, or they can be caused by other things too. So while I can say your problems sound gallbladder related, you should still get checked to be sure. It's an easy ultrasound to know if you have gallstones, and it should take a load off of your mind to find out. I know it did for me! Good luck.

Also, it does feel like something is sick inside you. You can physically feel that something is wrong. Whenever I eat something my gallbladder doesn't want to process, I know instantly. It's good that you are in tune with your body. It will help with self-diagnosis.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
