Gallstones Support Group
Gallstones (choleliths) are crystalline bodies formed within the body by accretion or concretion of normal or abnormal bile components. Risk factors for pigment stones include cirrhosis, biliary tract infections, and hereditary blood cell disorders, such as sickle cell anemia. Stones of mixed origin also occur.

Hi all, just after some advice really!
I have been suffering from pains for nearly 2months, the pain comes on a few hours after eating and is one of the most painful things ever (next to labour obviously but not far off!) I feel it mainly in my back and cannot get comfortable at all and am normally up all night, this happens at least once or twice a week and some times are worse than others, sometimes i have literally felt like i was going to pass out and all i can do is lay on the floor in the foetal position! it normally wears off 8- 12 hours after it starts.
Well the doc thinks it is gallstones (& id be inclined to agree after reading other peoples symptoms!) I am still waiting for an ultrasound, should be in 3weeks (good old NHS!) but has told me virtually nothing else about it, except to cut down on fat. Since then I have got rid of ALL cheese, meat and eggs, processed food etc. but while i know the things not to eat, i was wondering if there were any foods that i can eat that may actually help? I have heard that white wine can help (any excuse lol)
and also conflicting advice about coffee. Also any other advice on gallstones and treatment (operations expected?) would be much appreciated!
oh yes... I am only 26 is it normal for me to be getting these at my age? what brings them on?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

As far as diet, coffee bothers the stomach. Any thing with caffeine triggers it. I found that tea is not to bad...just watch the sugar. Meat is really hard on the stomach, that is until you get your gallbladder removed. Even after than poultry will be the only thing that wont bother you to much.
I hope this helps! Feel free to im me if you need to chat.
Take care
