Think positively Bill - they moved her to a hospital with a better pulmonary team, so they might be able to give her better treatment there and maybe she will have a shot at recovering. Don't give up hope yet! She needs your positive vibes right now.

As for travelling to see her; while I know you really want to be there with her, chances are good you wouldn't be allowed to. Even though you've had one Covid vaccine, you could still contract it (you just might only get mild symptoms, if any at all) and considering her condition, the last think any doctor would want is to have her exposed to Covid on top of what she's dealing with right now. It's highly unlikely she'd be allowed visitors right now anyway, so you might wind up making that trip for nothing. Is there any possibility you could get in touch via video chat at least? You'd be able to check in with her and show her your support and love still and perhaps the promise of a future visit when she's better could be motivation for her to keep fighting and hang on.

There is always hope, and that amazing opportunity and chance, for healing, and progress forward. Your sister is very strong, and you all are very strong. We will certainly keep her, and you all in our thoughts, and prayers, and sending our best well wishes. they have such amazing medical procedures, and technology these days, that can do so many amazing things, in helping patients recover, and giving wonderful hope to family, friends, loved ones. please keep us updated when you can. my brother Charlie is going through something very similar right now,. and he's been making progress. from being 100% on oxygen on a ventilator, and now is at 70% oxygen, his lungs are beginning to heal, recover. he has a long road to recovery but it's very possible, and your sister can heal and recover too :) we're very hopeful, and i want to give you all hope, that your sister can pull through also. keeping hope and faith very much alive in our hearts, and keeping positive, thinking positive,is so very helpful. we're all here for you Bill, and wishing you all much comfort, and peace, and wishing your sister much healing <3

I am really sorry to hear about your sister. This is a hugely stressful time. This description you give is very possibly being close to the end of life (my career). If you want to see her and say goodbye, it is now. If you don't want to see her, this is okay also. That stuff about her not wanting to meet Bebe is your assumption but if she is on a ventilator, sister will be sedated and unresponsive. Being on a ventilator and in ICU will probably be tighter "security" and "precautions" taken by the hospital because of covid (certain visitors only or one at a time). If she improves, sister may welcome a little company. Or if she gets a lot of company who aren't helpful, she may be grumpy. You know the kind, they fill the room demanding attention from the sick person and don't bother to help the sick one by getting water or more ice or food from the cafeteria or whatever. Waiting and planning to go for the funeral is okay if this is your decision. Lots of people regret they didn't get there in time to actually say goodbye.

So sorry aboot your sister but even though I commented on your journal that you should go see her Tess is right, they may not let you visit anyway . I'm sorry that you are strapped for the money to see her now and make it there for a funeral if necessary, it's a tough decision

So sorry to hear about your sister. Like everyone has said, there re making tremendous strides in the treatment of lung and heart ailments and there is always hope. It has to be tough trying to decide on a visit while she is alive or attending her funeral. I would hate to be in that situation. But it is unlikely that you would be allowed in because of Covid and so to make the trip and then not get in would be more heart wrenching.

spoke to nephew this morning and he has told me that if she is able to get out of hospital care she would need 24x7 nursing care in some kind of assisted facility or nursing home and she does not want to live life like that....

Get in the car and go. She is you sister. Bebe will just have to understand. You my never have another chance. Live life without regrets. Where there is will there is a way. She doesn't deserve to die alone. She will know you are there even if she is out of it. Science has proven it again and again. Sometimes it helps them turn a corner for the better. Family is family...like it or not.

I'm just catching up with this post. I'm so sorry you are going through this, plus a pandemic on top of it. Are you capable of seeing her virtually? A lot of hospital staff are working to connect their patients with their families via ZOOM or Facetime, or SKYPE. If you were to go and see her physically, if they let you in, there would be a lot of gown and mask between you. At least that's how it's happening here.
