Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
to get control.
here's a personal example. i work in the admin office of a group home - so there is always a well stocked kitchen and always goodies around for the residents. i share an office, but often i am alone for a few hours a day and if i am, i don't even go make myself a cup of tea. cause i know if i do and if i see there's muffins or cookies or something, i'll start, and if there is no one in the office to see me, i might end up eating a lot.
making myself a cup of tea seems innocent enough, but i know - if i am alone in the office, just going into the kitchen puts me at risk.
if you watch yourself over the course of a week or two, you might be able to identify your own s.u.d.s to watch out for.
There is also H.A.L.T. You ask yourself..
Are you...
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
or Tired
And then you can react accordingly with each of those things.
