So many of my friends are talking about the stress of trying to stay on program during the holidays. It is just so difficult. And who needs more stress? My decision is that I will try to use the holidays as a practice period for living/eating normally, using the habits I hope will help me when I reach goal and am trying to maintain my weight loss. That includes continuing to exercise regularly, eating slowly, watching portion control, and all the rest. If I deprive myself of the holiday treats that surround me, I know I will grow more and more resentful and depressed and set myself up for a binge of huge proportions! Anybody else have some thoughts on survival strategies?

I think you are right on target. The problem for me is less the eating, more finding time to exercise. And with the weather getting icky, it is hard to find a place. I am not going to even try to loose this month. If I can get away without gaining, I will be happy. Leave the losing to January. lol.

You have hit the target. Our total aim is to learn control everyday, make it our normal life. Christmas and all these end of the year holidays can put us in an even bigger hole that we are already in. So if we pay attention to proportions for good or bad food, say no to as much as possible in the end the New Year wish to loss weight will already be on a roll. Instead of being a depressing thought.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps.
