Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

Sorry, this might be a bit too much information for some - but I need help.
I have been abusing laxatives for around two years, not everyday but I do need to use them now to have a bowel movement (every second day or so). I use to use them to compensate for my bingeing, even used them when I would starve myself for days and there was nothing in my body to get rid of.
I have known for a long time that THEY DO NOTHING TO AID WEIGHT LOSS, nothing to stop you absorbing the energy in the food you eat, but I think I am addicted. Lately they seem to have stopped working so well and I have had to start upping how much I take to get them to work (almost doubling my dose, and I am already taking far more than the recommended amount). This is beginning to get ridiculous even for me. Also the effects aren't as quick and last for too long ( I will have the runs for 24hrs instead of 1 or 2 hrs). I have had a couple of times where I have had bowel incontinence, this is stopping me from going out and doing things - it's really beginning to effect my life.
I am really scared about the damage I may have done to my insides, but am too embarrassed to see a doctor about this. I would like to wean myself off them, but get constipated every time I go without them. How do I stop using them without getting really bad constipation? I have stopped using Phentermine, am working really hard at stopping the binge eating, have quit cigarettes and started exercising, I feel like this is the last thing I need to knock to get back to healthy living.
Once again, sorry about all the poo talk!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Peace,
Nicol
I know a girl who was addicted to laxatives and she was actually able to get into a treatment facility for it. She no longer uses the lax, but it was a hard battle, especially in the beginning when she was first coming off them. But she says it was worth the "hell" because now she won't have to wear a colostomy bag like she would've had to if she continued the abuse of those nasty things.
I really hope you can quit them. I'll be cheering for you!
