My daughter asked me what "sobriety" means when applied to a Food Addiction. Made me think. I define it for me (and I think that's key: it means different things to different people) as freedom from binging and practicing mindful eating...not putting anything in my mouth without making a conscious decision to do so. How do you define it? It's been such a useful thing for me to use the term "sobriety" in my recovery.

I think it is a form of sobriety. When an alcoholic is sober, they are free of the mind altering stimulent. There is a saying that there is no such thing as "junk food." It is either junk or it is food. I have come to realize, that I am addicted to junk. So when you use the phrase "sobriety" in connection to your food plan, I know exactly what you are saying...Grace
