Fitness Goals Support Group
This community is dedicated to group support around achieving fitness goals, whatever they may be, through personal training, athletic activites, or other strenuous activity. Whether you are trying to get fit to treat a health problem, boost your mood, relieve stress, or tone your body, this group is a great place to meet other like-minded people who have similar goals.
As for weight training, I've gone both heavy (for bulk) and lighter (to help with endurance and definition). The work-outs I liked best were essentially circuit training. They were quick and effective. I'd leave the gym in 20-30 minutes and be worn OUT. I tried to run MWF with a long, slow run on Sunday. I'd weight train TTh.
Here's my circuit training:
Bench Press
Shoulder Press
Curls
Tricep pushdowns
Lat Pulldowns
I'd start and end each circuit with crunches. No rest between movements; only a minute (or less) rest between circuits. Three or four circuits with 12-15 reps per movement.
LOL! Sad to see where I am now! That workout killed me then. It'd hospitalize me now!
Oh, and don't forget to warm-up and do some light stretching before and after. Hope this helps!
The trainers at gyms are usually pretty good at giving you suggestions that suit your specific needs and aspirations.
I had intended to have a couple sessions with a trainer to get me started again, but it turned out so well that I am still seeing my trainer twice a week.
My friend works out on his own, but every few months, he schedules a session with a trainer, just to be sure he has his form correct.
Remember, if you form is bad, you may be doing more harm than good.
Happy pumping!
