How do I tighten my abs? How do I reduce my arm size? How much cardio? Will lifting weight make me bulky? Any workout suggestions? Diet suggestions? I see answers to these questions and just shake my head and think it's no wonder goals are not attained (Fiddler excluded!). The answers to these questions are easy. The road to fitness is not. Period. There is no easy way. It's a matter of #1, Calorie restriction. Eat 500 extra calories, gain a pound. Retrict 500 calories, lose a pound. Eat the same, maintain. Diet is 90% of the equation! The old saying is so true, "you are what you eat". #2, Exercise. No way around it. But is all exercise the same? Nope! All exercise is good, some much better. If you perform nothing but cardiovascular activities, ie:, walking at a steady state on a treadmill, using an elliptical or stairmaster, you WILL NOT raise your RMR (Creating and sustaining Epoc thereby raising your resting metabolic rate). If you want to create and sustain an optimal metabolic environment you must eat correctly & lift weight! Use your body! Don't rely on a machine! I cannot stress this enough. You WILL NOT create lean mass via aerobic activity alone! Especially if that activity does not involve intensity. In our business we call aerobic enthusiasts, "skinny fat people". Thin bodies, high body fat percentage. They may be thin but they jiggle. We, as human beings, have evolved very little from our beginnings. Our biochemical make up remains as it was when we first hit this planet. Do you think the first humans put on their running shoes to hunt and gather? Do you think they jogged their way through the landscape in search of food? They stalked, they sprinted, they caught, they fed. They didn't jump on a treadmill to get their daily rations and Nike was not around. Fitness doesn't come in a bottle or a can. It comes from a determination to succeed. There is no easy way. It's hard work and requires discipline. BUT, what you put in you will reap 1,000%! Clean up your diet, drink water, lift weight, perform QUALITY cardiovascular activity and you WILL see changes. Quaranteed!
