I plan on starting to walk/run daily to get in better shape and maybe help my depression, but I have one area I also want to work on: my butt, but mostly the area just below it. I'm looking for some sort of exercise that can tighten that area to reduce the flab and cellulite. Sorry for my very un-technical terms haha. Any ideas?

this is a problem area for many women, and I personally have struggled with it myself. The best exercises you can do to help tone and tighten your butt are lunges and squats. You don't even need weight to do them. Just be consistent and you will notice a big improvement. Another thing I found really helpful to toning that are is yoga. My problem is that I get bored with yoga, but I did get some great results in that area.

Squatsare a definite! Here's a link to a description of how to do them correctly http://myfitnesstrainer.spruz.com/forums.asp?page=t&cmd=view&v=269307

yup, i agree with becky1234, doing squats and using the stair master helped me tone my thighs and butt! at first you'll be sore but within a few weeks the results will payoff...good luck!

I know what you mean. I love to Run, but since my attack in April, I don't enjoy it as much, I guess it's a selfWorth issue, I don't know!! same thing with the problem area. Have you tried Step Ups?? Like stepping up on a higher surface (like a chair) to target the hamstrings? that seems to help, and also cardio to burn fat.

The running should help. Also, look for some good hills. They will help give you resistance which in turn will help tone your butt. The most important part is just over all weight reduction. Lunges are great for this (as calee said). Spot reduction does not tend to work. Cellulite from what I've heard is genetic.

Squats, squats and more squats!! And walking at a decent pace on a fairly large incline targets the area just below the butt. Try to vary your squats, too. Do some with your feet shoulder width apart and some with your feet together. Also, I like using an excercise ball and putting it behind your back and against a wall and squatting that way as the ball rolls.

diet plays a role in the appearance of cellulite as well. Fast food, smoking and tanning have all been linked to an increase in visible cellulite. Be sure to drink tons of water and avoid highly processed foods.

Stability and bosu balls are godsend for your, er, ass. Can I say that here? I love lying on my back and using a stability ball to work the backs of my thighs and target that area. Bosu Balls are great for helping you with your balance and strengthening your core....while using it, you're constantly using the muscles in your legs, butt, abs, thighs, etc...it's great!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
